Before Lucky Star was made into an anime, Kagami Yoshimizu, the author of the original manga, was interviewed by Newtype USA in the June 2005 issue where he stated, "I don't really think my production process is anything special. An anime adaptation of Miyakawa-ke no Kūfuku, produced by Ordet and Encourage Films, streamed on Ustream from April 29 to July 1, 2013. The translation aren't the most straight forward, but the translator did clear up a few pints of confusion at the end. A poor condition book can still make a good reading copy but is generally not collectible unless the item is very scarce. She is often portrayed as a person who is unreliable and is always compared to her twin sister, who generally does better than her in most areas.

In Drama Mode, the player partners with one of the characters, and tries to increase her parameters and have her learn new battle skills. The anime first aired on the Chiba TV Japanese television network between April 8, 2007 and September 16, 2007, though aired concurrently on other networks. Meet Konata, an athletic and intelligent girl too dedicated to her favorite primetime animes to excel in anything but otaku culture; Miyuki, the cute, bespectacled living example of Moe with an encyclopedic knowledge of all subjects; Kagami, the bitter-sweet, tough but shy sister; Tsukasa, a kind but air-headed klutz. Unfortunately, the characters are unlikeable and difficult to care about, the art is really creepy - these are high school girls looking like six year olds, yet they are not entirely unsexualised - and just really not good, and worst of all, it's really not funny. A spin-off manga titled Lucky Star Pocket Travelers (らき☆すた ポケットとらべら〜ず, Raki☆Suta Poketto Toraberāzu), which has the four main characters waking up one morning to discover they have shrunken to doll size, was serialized in Comp Ace between the January and August 2008 issues. This is like the dessicated corpse of Azumanga with all the comedy, inventiveness and charm sucked out.

Another two character CDs followed on October 24, 2007: one as a duet between the voice actresses Kaoru Mizuhara as Misao Kusakabe, and Mai Aizawa as Ayano Minegishi, and the other as a trio between Aya Hirano, Shizuka Hasegawa, and Minori Chihara as Konata, Yutaka, and Minami respectively. A sequel, with the title of Shin Lucky Star Moe Drill: Tabidachi ( 真・らき☆すた 萌えドリル 〜旅立ち〜, Shin Raki☆Suta Moe Doriru ~Tabidachi~) was released on May 24, 2007. She is also known for having her hair in the same style as Akari Kamigishi from To Heart, something hinted at frequently in the series.

In my faulty memory, the cause for my disinterest was an overabundance of strictly "Japanese" references I did not "get" as an American reader. Also, there are a lot of Japanese cultural references in here, and there were a lot that even I didn't get, and I am an Asian Studies major and also studying Japanese. Exchanging Valentines can be an awkward process, especially when you consider “Vinegar Valentines” and other snarky sentiments - whatever your tastes, enjoy the sweet and sour cards alike in this gallery!

Meet Konata, an athletic and intelligent girl too dedicated to her favorite primetime animes to excel in anything but otaku culture; Miyuki, the cute, be spectacled living example of Moe with an encyclopedic knowledge of all subjects; Kagami, the bitter-sweet, tough but shy sister; Tsukasa, a kind but air-headed klutz. In August 2005, a drama CD based on the series was released, and in December 2005, a Nintendo DS video game entitled Lucky Star Moe Drill, was released. The manga begins with the same infamous ‘choco coronet’ scene as the anime, only in the manga, it ends as soon as Miyuki tells Konata which end is the head. Explaining this phenomenon, the analyst John Oppliger of AnimeNation, for example, suggested that a major factor in the series' success is its similarity to an earlier work by Kyoto Animation— The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (the show itself makes numerous references to the same series). She loves to read light novels, but she feels lonely because no one around her shares this interest. Four character song CDs were released on September 5, 2007, sung by the voice actresses Aya Hirano as Konata, Emiri Katō as Kagami, Kaori Fukuhara as Tsukasa, and Aya Endo as Miyuki.

The three novels are written by Tōka Takei and feature illustrations by Lucky Star 's original author Kagami Yoshimizu.

I read some of the Lucky Star manga via scanlations a while back and I remember it not being as enjoyable as the anime. I’ll start from a technical standpoint – I think it’s very important to highlight the weakness of the translation of this manga. The manga was licensed by Bandai Entertainment for release in English in North America, [6] and the first volume was released in June 2009. Besides Comptiq, the manga was also featured in other Kadokawa magazines including Shōnen Ace, Newtype, Comp Ace, Dragon Magazine, Mobile Newtype and Kadokawa Hotline for various lengths of time.
