About this deal

In Do Less, Kate uses her signature, crystal clear wisdom to insist that we stop wearing busyness as a badge of honor and begin to claim our time, our peace, our lives. Then she shows us how. I inhaled Do Less and as I finished, I found myself breathing easier. Important book, perfect timing. Since Do Less came out, my DM’s and our inbox have been filling up with your questions about your period, the moon, and how this whole cyclical living and planning thing works for your specific situation. I will say yes to the lunch and the coffee date and the joint venture and the interview and the guest post. Because it all sounds fun! And profitable! And exciting! Kate: Yeah and your ideas will be better. When we do that, our work becomes richer. If you’re listening and you’re struggling with like, well what is my thing? I’m not… I don’t feel like I’ve found my thing, what I found is, the less I did, the less busy I was, the more powerful my work became and I felt less like I was pretending, playing business, and I felt more like, oh this is real.

From the moment I opened up Do Less, my heart was put at ease. As a new mother, I am so grateful for the road map Kate lays out to make women more happy and full of joy.Kate: Okay. Let the amount you’ve moved your body this week be enough. Let the effort you put into that project be enough. Let the amount of time you spent really truly being with your kids be enough. Let the amount of sex you’re having be enough. Let the love you have to give be enough. The world doesn’t need you busy, the world needs you here and it’s enough. I inhaled this book because it illuminates a language about women and work that I’ve lived by without realizing it. I’ve never felt more validated or less alone in the way I do work as a woman in the world.” Do whatever you need to do to make it there live because you will get WAY better results that way, but we will be sending a replay if you can’t make it. Embrace all four phases of our menstrual cycles, lunar cycles, seasons, and project development phases. Cyclical living helps us have abundant harvests without burning out in the process. To create more Kairos in my life, I honor the changing of seasons by celebrating holidays and special occasions with ceremonies. I gather with others with a common intentional purpose, this is why I love retreats so much!

Are you new to the idea of using your cyclical nature to organize your workflow? If so, what are you most excited about? If not, what have you tried before? Leave a comment and let us know what you think of aligning your social media with your cycles! The cyclical macrocosm of pregnancy and how the trimesters align with the phases of the moon/menstrual cycle/seasons and how that may impact your creativity and productivity. In this book, you'll get the permission and tools to change the way you approach your life, and embrace living in tune with the cyclical nature of the feminine. By cutting out the extraneous busyness, you'll have more satisfaction and joy, and you'll let yourself be more often instead of doing all the time. Marie: Not sexy. I love also how the book is structured. In the first part, you are really making the case, the philosophy of do less, have more, and in the second part of the book, there’s these 14 bite sized experiments that any woman, or man, could test for herself. Let’s start with the data piece. The global research is really leaning us in this direction of doing less. Two things that I highlighted, one, in some research shared by Harvard Business Review that you quote, it was stated that very few people, including high performing athletes, novelists, and musicians, have an ability to be in a high state of concentration for more than four to five hours a day. I find that to be true for myself. I can hit it hard and then I got to take a break or do something else for a little bit because just grinding doesn’t really work and then this was cool. In Sweden, they’re moving to a standard six hour workday and one company found that, news flash, if you stay off social media and minimize distractions during your work day, less hours actually doesn’t diminish productivity. I was like, yeah.

Marie: Hey, it’s Marie Forleo and you are watching MarieTV, the place to be to create a business and life you love. Now, if you’re tired of feeling over stressed and over stretched and over committed but you don’t know a way out, today’s episode is for you. What was your biggest insight from today’s episode? Do you have more questions that we didn’t cover? How will you use what you learned in your business and life?So now it is, and if you’re ready to have time on your side, you can give yourself that gift right now . And thus, through many mis-steps, joyous ideation, customer service foibles and repairs, and giddy unwrapping moments, The Do Less Planner System was born. We can bend and stretch time by changing our perception of it (we will always have enough time for the things that are important to us), choosing to not rush (stepping out of frazzled, chaotic energy), and fully inhabiting the time (Kairos). Luteal (which is the 10-12 days before you get your period and is the same energy as the Waning Moon)

The one-of-a-kind time management system that helps you organize your life, your work and the relationship you have with your body so you can truly have more of the life you want by doing less of what’s unnecessary. No matter your circumstances, you’ll find productivity strategies here that will help you regain a greater sense of ease, purpose, peace, and control over your time and life. When you use the 4 phases you experience each month in concert with your menstrual cycle and/or the moon, social media will become a source of energy instead of a drain of energy. Use your natural desire to connect with others at this time. Go live! Make Reels! Record IGTV’s! Engage! Send DM’s to other accounts for collaborations. This is the time to cross-pollinate! This is a book for working women and mothers who are ready to release the culturally inherited belief that their worth is equal to their productivity, and instead create a personal and professional life that’s based on presence, meaning, and joy. As opposed to focusing on “fitting it all in,” time management, and leaning in, as so many books geared at ambitious women do, this book embraces the notion that through doing less women can have–and be–more. Marie: I mean for me, simply to amplify is like, I live my life by that and same thing, I have to remind myself of it often because ideas just… They’re like bunnies, popping out of my brain all the time. I got to corral this thing down. So it is, it’s wise. Talking about what really matters, tell us the story of you going to your annual direct sales convention. I thought that was kind of brilliant and this goes into the theme of really being rooted and knowing what matters to you and it’s going to be different for me, for you, for you, for everyone. Prior to my recent life changes, my relationship with time and energy had always been chaotic. A major realization I gained from this book is that no matter how chaotic or frantic I feel about time, it is going to pass by anyway. My mindset and inner dialogue affect me more than reality itself. The way I think and feel about the events in my day, perhaps rushing to a meeting, affects how I speak to myself; I am not kind, I make more mistakes, and I don’t put my best foot forward.
