About this deal

Their sixth effort, “Tekkno” – available September 16th, 2022, through Century Media Records – is no different. Having not heard this one before, I wasn’t sure how to take it after the first few spins, but it essentially fits as an album filler to drive between the bangers and breakdowns. Who can blame them, when their songs are incredibly catchy – they get stuck in your head whether you like it or not. Clearly Nico has had a very positive influence on the band and I can see them going from strength to strength in years to come. I’ve included the live version below so you can get an understanding of what you’re in for – and help you get pit ready in anticipation – because you’re gonna need that stamina mates!

At times, it takes you right back to the anthemic pop days of the late 2000s/early 2010s, and at other times it pulls you into the modern day with its djent-splattered metalcore. This is only seen a handful of times in ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Hurikkan’ during their most camp pop moments.During the worst of the pandemic, I remember the goofy humor of the “Hypa Hypa” music video lifting my spirits and I definitely wasn’t the only one. In “Tekkno,” a mash-up between Eurodance-inspired tunes and brutal djent-sprinkled riffs becomes the norm.

The band's musical style can be described as electronicore, [32] [33] [34] [35] metalcore, [32] [19] [36] [37] melodic metalcore, [35] [38] post-hardcore, [34] [39] EDM, [32] [36] comedy rock, [36] dubstep, [34] and electro. This is obviously half the point, and the band are clearly enjoying themselves (and, indeed, trolling those who don't dig it). None of this should work, but it just does, I have not been excited about an album for a long time as this one. Right now, I can imagine them flipping me off with a tiny hand on each finger (linked below, so you will know what the hell I am talking about), and I am so glad they didn’t take my advice. The band was nominated for the Up And Coming (best newcomer award) at the German Metal Hammer Awards, held in Berlin on 13 September 2013, which they won. After starting to get more recognition, particularly in the US, it was brought to their attention that the term "eskimo" is an offensive term to certain groups of people in Alaska. Unfortunately, compared to what they’ve discovered in the rest of Tekkno, these are the weaker points. They’re still a band who rely deeply on a gimmick of blending cheesy, sugary Eurodance with standard-issue Warped Tour metalcore, i. On 17 November 2012, the band announced after a concert in Düsseldorf that they were parting ways with their drummer Michael Maletzki; he was replaced by David Friedrich.
