About this deal

This is a fantastic, easy to use guide about safe baby care and how to support partners during the perinatal period. It is designed to reduce your anxieties, create a strong bond and healthy attachment with your baby, build stronger family relationships and recognise when you or your partner might need to get help for your mental health. I was a bit scared when we found out we were having a baby, obviously happy, but a bit scared and in the beginning I was a bit clueless.

Although we hope that this DadPad will help you and your family with some of the questions and problems that may arise over the coming weeks, always remember that, if you're unsure about anything to do with your baby’s health, you should contact your midwife, health visitor or GP.

Kate Cox, Head of Universal Services at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said: “We are committed to continually improving the maternity experience for families in Stoke-on-Trent so that every child gets the best start in life, so we are delighted to support this fantastic new resource. There is also a resource for co-parents (LGBTQ+ non-birthing parents) being prepared by DadPad and available to new and expectant families in Stoke in early 2023.Crucially, the app also provides dads with guidance on how to support and seek help (when needed) for their partners and themselves as they adjust to their new roles, and cope with the physical and emotional strains that this can place on individuals and relationships. We are delighted to be able to launch this resource for dads and dads-to-be across the Lancashire and South Cumbria area. From the start, the DadPad® has been working with mums, dads, Health Visitors, Midwives and Public Health Teams to provide the most relevant and accurate information available, and continues to do so. Emotional health and wellbeing issues can arise during pregnancy and in the period following the birth of a baby in both mum and dad.

As well as providing general information to fathers and families, the DadPad has been customised to include local Stoke-on-Trent support groups and services, along with links to the Stoke-on-Trent Community Directory which is regularly updated. We listened to what dads, their partners and professionals asked for and combined it all in this new DadPad for dads-to-be. The DadPad] is about Dads being prepared for some of that tension and strain of being a new parent, but without being overwhelmed and knowing that it’s not just mums who can access the help and advice that’s available, even if they don’t live with their partner.

All texts will be responded to by a public health nurse (health visitor/school nurse) within 24 hours. The DadPad app is an evidence based app accessible to all fathers living in Solihull and is FREE of charge.
