While there’s likely a small group of people who don’t want a GPU but do want the power of the 1195G7, the mediocre battery life isn’t a sacrifice I’d recommend that most people make. The Aspire Vero feels solid enough that while I didn’t drop it onto the ground during my review, I got the impression that it could take the rigors of daily use in stride.

I rather like this and I suspect that, being unpainted, it will stay looking good for longer than a more conventional finish. If you step up, you don’t just get the better CPU – that machine has 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD too. Acer also states that the use of recycled plastic in the Aspire Vero also results in a reduction of CO2 emissions because recycling plastic uses fewer fossil fuels than manufacturing new plastic.That’s really not great — it’s on the lower end even for gaming laptops with beefier processors and hardcore GPUs. Plus, there's a Windows Hello fingerprint reader in the corner that'll sign you into your PC without typing a password.

With a video test running and the display at a moderate brightness level the Acer Aspire Vero lasted for twelve hours. I really enjoy the new touchpad—it's much smoother than the palm rest area around it and provides a comfortable glide I feel is missing from many pads.Travel is the standard millimetre and change, there’s OK resistance at the actuation point and these keys feel fast to type on. The lid and palm rests have a slightly coarse texture with a speckled grey color, reminiscent of handmade recycled paper. The webcam is disappointing – just another rather shoddy 720p affair that deserves no further words wasted on it. For the record, the battery rundown test was conducted in Eco mode while the performance tests were all run in Performance mode. The Aspire Vero isn’t alone when it comes to producing pallid images, though – the Huawei suffered similarly.
