About this deal

With a history dating back over half a millennium, Disaronno is a flavour which has always been loved. Duppy Share White Jamaican Rum is a blend of molasses pot still rums from Clarendon, Worthy Park and Hampden distilleries. In Australia it's labelled spirit so I guess it has at the very least under two years of age, but more likely no age.

After asking online, I’ve been told this is a blend of rums from Hampden, Clarendon and Worthy Park. Enjoyed by absinthe connoisseurs and dedicated spirits advocates around the world in the traditional way with sugar and water. In fairness when it comes to the rum world it is understandable that people are suspicious of “brands” and stories surrounding the brand.

Taste is smooth, slightly sweet with again citrus tones, fresh grass, pineapple and tropical fruits. We do know that local South American Indians were known to have remedies for many diseases, so a small party went ashore to Cuba and came back with ingred. Combining natural herbs and fruit steeped in apricot kernel oil, Disaronno has a heady and floral scent which follows through to its flavour. Duppies are Caribbean souls or spirits who live at the foot of the cottonwood trees and have a fondness for rum.

Under this very attractive bottle, Duppy Share rum is a blend of rums from Barbados (Foursquare), aged 3 years in American oak barrels and rums of 5 years of age from Jamaica, distillery and estate of W orthy Park then bottled in London by The Wesbourne Drinks Co.

The Duppy White is their latest release (although there is a potential Duppy XO in the works as well) made in collaboration with the British actor and musician Kano. Of course, since these Caribbean spirits love rum, only the best of the best are stolen - This is 'Duppy Share'. Despite their extensive range of liqueurs it’s the original elegance of their classic Grand Marnier which is the most famous.

Co-produced with musician Kano, Duppy Share Premium white Jamaican rum reprezents all things good about Jamaican and London culture. I always enjoy Appleton White (now re-branded as Kingston 62) and this certainly ticks all the boxes that make that rum so good for mixing. The islands are incredibly beautiful and have an amazing ability to make anyone, in any situation, feel totally welcome and at ease.

There is a spicy chilli/Pimento like not e as well which runs right across the sweeter, fruitier notes. Duppy Share Caribbean Rum is made using a combination of premium rums that are sourced for their provenance. Duppy White is molasses based, a blend of pot and column still distillates from undisclosed Jamaican distilleries * (or distillery) and bottled at 40% ABV free of any additives. It’s white rum which people so often give short shrift however this stuff has really hit a sweet spot and whoever blended it deserves a prize. As you taste, smooth caramel sweetness and lively tropical fruits give way to pimento spice and a lively pot still rum finish.
