About this deal

A man consumed with the darkest licentiousness aimlessly meanders through life fulfilling his deepest perversions. In either case, both of our main protagonists are seriously disturbed and act on their abnormal proclivities.

At first he doesn’t believe but she convinces him, he wants her to have an abortion because neither of them is right in the head but she refuses. It's truly hilarious how our main character is obsessed with existing outside society, but in reality he is nothing but a product of the patriarchy with thoughts and feelings just like so many pathetic men I've unfortunately known IRL. I won't include a list of them because (spoilers) but also because I can just say that if you think of a trigger, it's present in this book. First let me start my review by saying to check the trigger warnings before reading this book and it is very dark and contains themes like necrophilia so please be aware of that when reading this book and my review as I will be discussing it. I found myself skimming over some of the more detailed accounts of specific actions, just to get to the parts where the characters were having a dialog about their feelings or the story had progressed past points of discomfort and I wanted to see what was going to happen. This story is pretty much American Psycho meets Exquisite Corpse if Jughead Jones (angsty CW edition) was the narrator, written by someone who never totally outgrew their middle school edgelord phase. Of course, you can always counterargue about these things, I’m not trying to make a point in my review. If extreme, and I mean EXTREME, sexually explicit horror is something you are interested in then give this one a shot. I thought based on the hype that this would be the rare book that would be “too much”, but honestly, I frequently found myself bored and wishing for the story to end. I feel bad giving this such a harsh review, but I have to say my piece: the main character is so focused on being as much of an antisocial edgelord as he possibly can be, it overshadows the gruesomeness of the entire plot.

This book is a wild ride down a dark hole and a head-first dive in a putrid puddle of shit, maggots and fuck knows what else. The book is extremely well written, and I would love to get into his author's mind, on how he came up with this idea for a book. All of that said, something about the detached and repetitive nature of the narrative voice made even the most disgusting and graphic scene in this book fall short of actually affecting me. It’s just beyond belief that anything like this could ever happen in real life but honestly, it did its job, freaked me the hell out, and is a book I will never forget. There is no trigger warning out there that can prepare you for the horrors that lay waiting within this book.Despite the protagonist being quite anti-social he tolerates Helen’s presence in his life even coming to enjoy her company. He manages to lace a layer of pleasure into his reading that really fits the main character almost too well, and that’s definitely what you want with an Audiobook. But even though many scenes were gross, the main characters weird, and the whole setting utterly depraved I enjoyed the excellent prose and couldn't put the book down.
